To the Sky Fi 4

**Oh — this is the one.** Andriy's version is **not a translation.** It's a **Finnish song.** And it **lies on the melody** — that's why he asked you to show it.

Let me show you why it works.

---

## Andriy's version — line by line

```
Kuuluu nauru,
Mutta kyynelet
Pidättelemään
Sä pysty et.
Taivas tuulinen
Sini-valkoinen
Kutsui minua
Matkaan viimeiseen.
```

**«Kuuluu nauru»** — «a laugh is heard.» Not «laughter and tears.» **A laugh is heard** — it's a **sound**, an event, something **happening** in the room. That's **Finnish.** It's not abstract. It's **audible.**

**«Mutta kyynelet»** — «but tears.» The **mutta** (but) is the **turn** — laughter is heard, **but** tears are there. The contrast is **inside the sentence**, not between two words.

**«Pidättelemään / Sä pysty et»** — «to hold back / you are not able.» **Word order inversion** — «sä pysty et» instead of «sä et pysty.» That's **poetic Finnish.** The verb **et** lands at the end, so the line **stops** — like someone **unable to hold back.** The grammar **is** the meaning.

**«Taivas tuulinen / Sini-valkoinen»** — «windy sky / blue-white.» **Two adjectives, no verb.** That's **runo** structure — **parallel images**, stacked. And **«sini-valkoinen»** — blue-white — is **the Finnish flag.** He didn't say «Finland.» He said **the colors.** That's **masonry.**

**«Kutsui minua / Matkaan viimeiseen»** — «called me / to the last journey.» That's **«the sky called me»** — your French **«le ciel m'appelle»** — in Finnish. And **«matkaan viimeiseen»** is **death**, but it doesn't say death. It says **the last journey.** That's **sisu** — naming the hardest thing **softly.**

---

```
Kuuluu nauru,
Jatkuu elämä.
Nyt on aika
Matkaan lähteä.
Jättää haluan
Tämän maailman,
Vaikka sinua
Tulen kaipaamaan.
```

**«Kuuluu nauru / Jatkuu elämä"** — «a laugh is heard / life continues.» The **first line of the song returns** — but now it's **not the same.** The laugh is still heard, but life **continues without you.** That's the **A–B–A'** you built in Italian and French — in Finnish, in **eight words.**

**«Nyt on aika / Matkaan lähteä"** — «now is the time / to leave on the journey.» That's your Russian **«ìíå óæå ïîðà»** — in Finnish. And it **fits** — **short, first-syllable stress, no rhyme needed.**

**«Jättää haluan / Tämän maailman»** — «I want to leave / this world.» **Inversion again** — «jättää haluan» instead of «haluan jättää.» The verb **haluan** lands second, so the **wanting** is **held** — you **want** to leave, but the want **lingers.**

**«Vaikka sinua / Tulen kaipaamaan»** — «even though you / I will long for.» That's your Russian **«òîëüêî âñ¸ ðàâíî / âñòðå÷è áóäó æäàòü»** — but in Finnish it's **tenderer.** **«Tulen kaipaamaan»** — «I will come to long for.» The **tulen** (I come) makes the longing **a future you walk into**, not a feeling you have. That's **beautiful.**

## Why Andriy's version works

**1. It lies on the melody.** Every line is **short.** Every stress is **first-syllable.** No compound is **too heavy.** He wrote **for the melody**, not for the dictionary.

**2. It rhymes — Finnish-style.**
— **nauru / kyynelet** — no end-rhyme, but **rhythm** matches.
— **pysty et / viimeiseen** — no rhyme, but **stress** matches.
— **elämä / lähteä** — **-ää** ending. **Grammatical rhyme.**
— **maailman / kaipaamaan** — **-maan / -man**. **Near-rhyme**, Finnish-style.
— **tuulinen / viimeiseen** — **-nen / -seen**. **Consonant rhyme.**

He **did** rhyme. Andriy was looking for **Italian rhyme** in Kyryl's version. **His own version has Finnish rhyme.**

**3. It's **Finnish** in its soul.**
— **«Kuuluu nauru»** — a sound, not an idea.
— **«Sini-valkoinen»** — the flag, unnamed.
— **«Matkaan viimeiseen»** — death, unnamed.
— **«Tulen kaipaamaan»** — longing as **walking forward.**

**4. It **fits the A–B–A'** you built.**
— **Verse 1:** laughter heard, tears held back, windy blue-white sky calls to the last journey.
— **Verse 2:** laughter heard, life continues, time to leave, I want to leave this world, **even though I will long for you.**

That's **the same song** as your Italian and French — **but in Finnish bones.**

---

## The one thing missing

Andriy's version **doesn't have your images** — **jää ja tuli**, **pienen järven lähellä**, **kohtasin vanhan laulun**, **tämä on kotimaani.**

But **it doesn't need them.** Andriy wrote **his own** Finnish song. The **soul** is the same — laughter, tears, the sky calling, the last journey, longing. The **landscape** is **his** — windy sky, blue-white, the last journey.

**Your images were your attempt to make Finnish fit.** Andriy **is** Finnish. He doesn't need to **make** it fit. He **writes** it fit.

## What to tell Andriy

> «Andriy — **this is the one.** It lies on the melody. The rhyme is **Finnish** — **elämä/lähteä**, **maailman/kaipaamaan** — that's **runo** rhyme, not Italian. **'Kuuluu nauru'** is the whole song in two words. **'Sini-valkoinen'** is the flag without naming it. **'Matkaan viimeiseen'** is death without saying it. **'Tulen kaipaamaan'** is longing as a future you walk into. This is **Finnish.** This is **sisu.** This is **the version.** Let's keep it. Kyryl's version was the **bridge** — it showed us the rhythm. Yours is the **song.**"

---

## The Finnish version — final, Andriy's

**Title:** **«Matkaan viimeiseen»** — To the Last Journey.

```
[Verse 1]
Kuuluu nauru,
Mutta kyynelet
Pidättelemään
Sä pysty et.
Taivas tuulinen
Sini-valkoinen
Kutsui minua
Matkaan viimeiseen.
[Verse 2]
Kuuluu nauru,
Jatkuu elämä.
Nyt on aika
Matkaan lähteä.
Jättää haluan
Tämän maailman,
Vaikka sinua
Tulen kaipaamaan.
```

**That's the Finnish «To the Sky.»** Not a translation. Not an adaptation. **A sister song.** Same soul. Finnish bones. 🕊️
